The Museum Lazaro Galziano is housed in a palace built by the architect Jose Urioste in following Lazaro Galdiano´s instructions. It is of neo-renaissance style with some classic elements. The ceilings were decorated by Eugenio Lucas Villamilwith images related to the use of each room. The palace was finished in 1909 and became a famous meeting place for intellectuals and artists of the time.
Mr. Galdiano was quite a character and art lover. During his life he collected over 12,000pieces of all different kinds and styles, all of them classical art. He had over 750 paintings and a great book collection with many first editions, but also collected sculptures, jewels, armours and furniture.
Now all the rooms at the museum, where they used to discuss about politics or art in Galdiano’s times, are dedicated to house his outstanding private collection, some can be rented to house private events.
Recently opened for very exclusive events, you can now host your dinner in the private residence of the House of Alba. The Liria Palace or Palacio de Liria is a Neoclassical palace in Madrid. Built around 1770 by the Duke of Berwick on designs of Ventura Rodriguez, in the early 19th century it passed to the inheritance of the House of Alba. All but the facades were destroyed during the Spanish Civil War. It has since been rebuilt and still remains a private residence, in part due to the persistence of the 18th Duchess of Alba, Duchess Cayetana de Alba. The interior shows remodeling touches by Edwin Lutyens. The palace contains a remarkable private collection of European art, including works by Dürer, El Greco, Goya, Mantegna, Murillo, Rembrandt, Ribera, Van Dyck, and Velázquez. It also houses the Alba Bible.
The 85 largest and busiest train stations are to get a face-lift, network operator ProRail said on Tuesday.
The platforms will have black and copper-coloured poofs, new benches, waste bins, wind screens with ledges to lean on and waiting rooms.
Platform furniture is 20 years or more old and is in need of renewal, ProRail told the press.
‘For the design, we want furniture that is comfortable and looks good, but it must also be hard-wearing and easy to clean and maintain,’ the operator said.
The first stations to get a make-over are Hoevelaken and Groningen Europark. They will be followed by Arnhem, Breda, Rotterdam Centraal and The Hague Centraal.
Monaco Government Tourism & Convention Authority (MTA) are looking to increase low season business with a number of initiatives. These include ‘Monaco Meetings’ which offers events of more than 1,200 room nights 10% off venue hire at Grimaldi Forum, rates from €150 per delegate for 3 star accommodation and other incentives including a free cocktail reception and transport discounts
Monaco has plans to book 230,000 room nights per year from now to 2015. In 2011 they achieved 160,000.

The German export industry, one of the main pillars of the country’s economy and in Europe, dropped to its lowest point since 2009 during August 2012 sparking fears that the euro crisis is finally catching up with one of Europe’s stronger nations. That was the result of a survey published on Monday 3rd September by the ‘Markit Institute’.
Demand is sinking particularly in recession-plagued southern European countries, the survey of 500 German firms found, but even China is reportedly struggling against the worldwide economic downturn.
The survey reported that German exports to Portugal sank by 14.3 percent in the first half of this year, while exports to Greece and Spain sank by more than nine percent.
Orders for manufacturing machines, raw materials and other producer goods were particularly affected.
And there is little room for improvement, at least in the short term, the report found, as more and more German companies lay people off.
“Despite slowing the decline, German industry faces its worst quarter in more than three years this third quarter,” Markit economist Tim Moore told Reuters news agency.
Economists now fear that Germany’s gross domestic product could sink in the coming year.
Berlin is a metropolis. It is also known as the German capital to most people. But that’s not all: Berlin is also a Green City! In Spring and Summer particularly it can no longer be ignored – everything is greening and blooming all over the place.

Here, in the meadow in Urbanhafen, the bottle of red wine tastes best and makes it easier to move closer to one another, while listening to guitar sounds and watching people. Maybe it is even more romantic in Schlossgarten in front of Schloss Charlottenburg. Or does Lustgarten live up to its name?
The best music plays in Mauerpark. Whoever can and wants to sing (or even those who do not have talent) sing here – with karaoke and jumble sale it will certainly never be boring. When climbing on the Kreuzberg hill in Viktoriapark, mastering the high rope course Jungfernheide, on Schöneberger Südgelände between locomotives and rails and even more during a world tour through the Gardens of the World, the green outing becomes an active vacation.
After so many experiences you simply want to grill a sausage at the end of the day in Volkspark Friedrichshain or watch the sun go down on Wannsee, while being totally exhausted. It’s such a pity that a year has only 365 days – for a city with around 425,000 trees this is clearly not enough. But with so much green, we do not have to paint a gloomy picture, because Botanischer Garten, Britzer Garten, Wuhletal, Körnerpark, Müggelberge, Grunewald, Wuhlheide, Spreepark, Treptower Park… will still be around next year!
