Trinity Raises £20,840 For Local Charities

The target was to raise £20,000 for Rutland Sailability, Hospital at Home and The Children’s Air Ambulance service.  These three local charities were chosen by staff at the beginning of the year as part of Trinity’s on-going CSR programme and each received £6,667.00.  The surplus has been donated to two more charities which Trinity supports:  £740 to Meetings Industry Meetings Needs and £100 to Tenovus.

Daniel Routt, Special Projects Manager at The Children’s Air Ambulance, said: “The online charity auction set up by the Trinity Event Solutions team was an excellent example of fundraising by thinking outside the box. The innovative auction raised a phenomenal amount of income (£6,670.00) for TCAA as well as helped boost the profile nationally of the new service.  The team from TCAA would like to thank everyone involved for such an excellent initiative and an extraordinary amount of income raised in such a short space of time. The team at TCAA have thoroughly enjoyed working with Trinity Event Solutions.”

Ros Mulholland-Gullick, of Rutland Sailability, said her charity had bought a new Challenger boat which would be used by members for racing.  She added: “This will really make a difference.  It is the most in-demand boat that we have got.”  The new boat will be named Trinity.  Dee George, of Peterborough-based Hospital at Homes, said: “It’s an amazing donation.  It will mean we will be able to nurse more patients in their own homes.”

Tim Chudley, MD of Sundial Group whose Highgate House and Barnett Hill were included in the challenge was thrilled to receive the cheque as Trustee of Meetings Industry Meeting Needs.  He added: “I know that the best hotel booking agencies ensure their people know the venues they book for their clients so to cover so many in such a memorable, creative and fun way whilst raising much needed funds for less fortunate people was a stroke of genius.“

Jacqui Kavanagh, MD of Trinity Event Solutions was delighted with the fund-raising and said:  “This was a huge achievement and I would like to thank all the hotels and venues for supporting us, as well as the whole team who gave up their time and put a lot of work into making this a success.  This initiative supports our CSR policy and we are delighted to make a contribution to local charities that will really make a big difference to their work.”

Prizes were awarded to the hotels and venues which supported the Triple Challenge:

Marriott Grosvenor Square NEW space- The Den

Our Marriott account manager came into the office along with team members from 4 Central London Marriott hotels this afternoon.

A fantastic new space we must tell you about has just opened at the Marriott Grosvenor Square for guests and delegates alike to have a bit of fun! Delegates holding meetings at the hotel can let off steam, take time out and hold delegate breaks in the new ‘Den’. A funky, contemporary, interactive new space filled with games such as Pac-man, air hockey, table football and American Pool.

This space is being offered complimentary when booking a meeting for up to 20 people in September and October.

Something very different for delegates to have as part of a working day!

Hyatt Birmingham Start Soft Refurbishment

Following a visit from the Sales Manager of the Hyatt Regency Birmingham today, we are aware of a few changes going on at the hotel. They have already started refurbishing the standard bedrooms, using a modern, neutral theme and plenty of local artwork, with work on the meeting space due to start after January 2014. All work is scheduled to be complete by May 2014.

They are also now offering a ‘Women’s Experience’ as part of an on-going innovation project, which gives female guests a more extensive list of amenities to either buy, borrow or have complimentary. Items such as hair straighteners, smaller portions on the room service menu and smaller bath robes and slippers are now available to make women feel more welcome in the hotel. This innovation project is an on-going thing and guests are asked questions about their stay to help the hotel improve their offering.

Trinity Agents Alex Jarvis, Clare Abraham, Laura Cooke and Rosie Downes participated yesterday in a site visit tour of London hosted by the Accor hotel group, who collectively have over 40 properties in the London area, ranging in brands from Sofitel, Pullman, Mercure, Novotel, and Ibis.

Hotels visited include the vast meeting space of Novotel London West, located 5 minutes from Hammersmith Underground, the huge Ibis London Earls Court/Ilec Conference Centre with space for up to 1200 delegates, and the more chic Novotel Paddington.

Our tour continued to the recently refurbished & upgraded Pullman St. Pancras, with splendid views of London sights, to the Novotel Tower Bridge, with views over the Tower of London.

Going south of the river we headed to Novotel London City South, and the UK flagship Novotel London Blackfriars and poked our heads through the door of the flagship Ibis Blackfriars.

Our tour finished at the Sofitel St. James, which offered a beguiling mixture of French and traditional English styles in a former converted bank. Several of our agents also stopped by at the Mercure Windsor on the night prior to view this town-centre property.

Millennium Hotels Pay The Trinity Team A Visit

New GM at Copthorne Hotel London Gatwick and Copthorne Hotel Effingham Gatwick, Lee Richards, will be seeing a refurbishment at his two hotels in the very near future too.

The Singapore-based ownership group, Millennium & Copthorne Hotels, certainly seem to be spending the money to ensure their hotels are refreshed and remain competitive in the market place.

The Copthorne Aberdeen Hotel has just finished a refurbishment of the public areas and has already completed half of the bedrooms, with the remainder due to be done by the end of the year.

The Copthorne Hotel Newcastle has also had a soft refurb, with new carpets, an updated air-conditioning system and flat screen TV’s in the bedrooms.
