London’s new M by Montcalm hotel launches event space
Montcalm and Searcy’s have partnered to launch a new conference and events venue in Shoreditch’s recently opened M Hotel. The London venue features 5 private dining rooms and a large contemporary meeting room with flexible partitioning to suit different sized events. The space offers state of the art facilities and technology including plasma screens, AV equipment and complimentary high speed broadband. Catering will be led by Searcy’s and led by executive chef and star of The Great British Menu Paul Welburn. There will also be an on-site cocktail bar exclusively for delegates.
According to the statistics just published by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), the congress metropolis of Vienna improved its ranking in 2014, landing in second place worldwide.
Vienna has taken second place in the survey of international congresses held worldwide in 2014 just published by the ICCA (after taking third place in 2013, and first place for eight years prior to that). With 202 such events, the Austrian capital ranked after Paris (214) and ahead of Madrid (200). Christian Mutschlechner, Director of the Vienna Tourist Board’s Vienna Convention Bureau, commented: “We are very excited that Vienna has regained a top position, and congratulate Paris on taking first place. This latest success also reflects the growth that the Vienna conference industry was able to achieve in 2014. This survey is an important trend barometer for the Vienna Convention Bureau, and a benchmark showing Vienna’s position in the global marketplace.” Berlin ranked in fourth place in the ICCA rankings (193), followed by the cities Barcelona (182), London (166), Singapore (142), Amsterdam (133), Istanbul (130) and Prague (118).
Austria moved up to 11th place in the country ranking with 287 events. Top place was taken by the United States (831) followed by Germany (659) and Spain (578).

The Brighton i360 will be an exciting new venue in the city when it opens in 2016. It will have a vertical cable car and the world’s tallest moving observation tower. The futuristic glass viewing pod will be able to be hired exclusively for up to 200 delegates and the cable car pods can be tailored to event organisers’ requirements with food and beverage options. The ride on the i360 could also be combined with fine dining or team building activities.
In addition, there is a selection of beach-side meeting rooms for 10 to 300 people. These are located in a separate suite away from the main public building. All rooms have natural daylight, AV facilities, and views of the sea, beach and West Pier.

Similar in style the RGB Grill & Bar, with a mixture of high and low comfortable seating, also overlooks the river and is the hub of the hotel with Costa Coffee and refreshments served all day. A large proportion of the hotel’s meeting space is currently undergoing refurbishment and this is expected to be finished at the end of June 2015.

Radisson Blu Manchester Airport undergoes major refurbishment
Radisson Blu Manchester Airport is the only hotel at Manchester Airport directly Sky-linked to all three terminals. The hotel has undergone a £10m refurbishment in the last 12 months on all rooms, public areas and food and beverage outlets, having all been extensively upgraded. For the ultimate experience, a private check-in and business class lounge with panoramic views of Manchester Airport has been created on the hotel’s top floor. The hotel has 27 flexible meetings and event rooms. The Scandinavian Ballroom caters for up to 350 delegates and social dining for up to 230 guests. The hotel is the first to implement The Food Wall, offering a different kind of catering option for all of our conference delegates and guests.
The City Tower in Manchester city centre is to undergo a major refurbishment of its ground floor and reception areas, including the creation of new meeting space. The Tower, based in Piccadilly Gardens, will feature an improved atrium space and a new business lounge with meeting space and booths, alongside additional catering and retail units. Existing meeting space includes the Red Rooms, which offer views across the city and which cater for up to 150 delegates. The refurbishment is expected to take around 6 months to complete and will be designed by ID:ER, the arm of Sheppard Robson. Schroders announced plans to invest in the building after buying it from family property firm Bruntwood last may.

Situated in the heart of historic Guildford, in Surrey ,the hotel has over 180 beautifully designed rooms, a serene urban spa, delicious restaurant and buzzing bar.Located within 2 miles of Junction 10 off the M25, this 4 star modern luxury hotel is easily accessible to major transport links including London Heathrow Airport, London Gatwick Airport and London Waterloo.
We could not see the conference centre due to the current work, but without seeing the finished property I have no doubts it will only add to the hotels arsenal of facilities suitable for any meeting type and event.

However York seems to have pulled off the great combination of protecting its historic values while also catering for the 21st century in all aspects.With many hotels now in the city the Park Inn has taken its meeting space and facilities to 2015 and beyond. Located on the banks of the river Ouse the location and scenery could not be any better. The hotel boasts many meeting rooms with plenty of daylight and space. They are currently refurbishing the conference centre which is planned to be completed this June.

Flying fast and low along the banks of the beautiful Danube and having to negotiate the numerous bridges that cross it makes this location the most challenging of the series for the pilots, testing to the limit their flying techniques. An incredible 650,000 spectators watched the breath taking displays when the race was last held in Budapest back in 2009.The Hungarian capital is the most historic city on the tour and the stunning buildings and architecture make for an incredible backdrop.Widely regarded as one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Budapest is considered an important central European hub for business, culture and tourism.
