1. The Old Swan & Minster Mill is investing in a brand new Spa development which will be completed in June 2016. This will comprise, steam room, sauna, pool, relaxation lounge, 4 treatments rooms, plunge pool and experience showers.
2. We have also invested in the creation of 5 brand new Meadow Suites completion date January 2016. These suites have a lounge area, Nespresso machines, walk in Jacuzzi showers and amazing views of the Meadows and Croquet Lawns.
3. For a quirky team build, we offer a complimentary deSavary Duck Race along the River Windrush culminating in a “Duck Off” for the fastest 3. The winner makes it onto our leader board which is proudly on show at reception!
4. We are a green venue having installed an Archimedes Screw for green & renewable energy source. Powered by the River Windrush, the Archimedes provides direct electricity energy feed to all our Minster Mill buildings: bedrooms and meeting space.
5. We are an award winning hotel having won the Conde Nast Johansens Best Country House Hotel 2016 at the recent November awards.
Needham House Hotel and Conference Centre opens following refurbishment
Needham House Hotel and Conference Centre in Little Wymondley near Hitchin in Hertfordshire has reopened following major refurbishment. It is located 1½ miles off the A1. This hotel has been closed since 2013 and was previously a Thistle Hotel.
The hotel is rated as 4-star and has 80 bedrooms, spa and gym. The largest meeting space is the Needham Suite which has capacity for 200 people for a meeting or 300 for a reception. There is also a stepped auditorium with desks and nine boardrooms.
The Cotswolds Golf Club, Chipping Norton has opened a hotel on the same site. The Cotswolds Hotel has a spa and roof top terrace. There are 4 bedrooms, many overlooking the championship 18 hole golf course. There are also conference facilities, with a marquee which seats up to 200 people, the terrace for 65 people and the bar can be used for up to 40 people.

New for Birmingham – the Genting Hotel and Vox Conference Centre
A new hotel has opened at the Birmingham NEC and International Airport. Part of Resorts World Birmingham, which includes a casino, 11-screen cinema, 18 bars and restaurants and 50 shops, the Genting Hotel has 178 bedrooms is a 4*hotel with a spa.
The Vox Conference Centre is in the same development, which has capacity for up to 900 people in theatre style. The largest space can be divided into 5 smaller rooms and there are 3 boardrooms as well. The meeting rooms have 4k digital screens, movable digital podiums, giant 7m x 2m media wall, dynamic hybrid technology and all the latest lighting and audio equipment.
The latest report from HRS has compared bedroom rates in quarter 3 of 2014 with quarter 3 of 2015 and found that rates are up.
London is still the most expensive place to stay in the UK and Europe with rates averaging £140 per night, and increase of 17% compared with last year. Edinburgh is the second most expensive destination in the UK, with rates of £116, an increase of 7% over last year. The Rugby World Cup and Ashes Tour had an impact with demand increasing in Bristol, Cardiff, and other match destinations.
The BDRC predicts that there will be a large increase in the supply of hotel bedrooms during 2016, with new hotels in Manchester adding 1,500 rooms, Edinburgh 1,400 rooms and Glasgow 900 rooms. London will add 8,000 rooms, an increase of 6% and it is predicted that hotel numbers will grow by 12% in the next three years. They also believe that the merger of Starwood and Marriott, the recommended runway for Heathrow Airport, terror threats and oil prices will all affect hotel growth.
On the international scene, Zurich is Europe’s second most expensive capital city, with Istanbul coming third, followed by Amsterdam, Paris and Stockholm which have similar rates.
