This restaurant is situated in the heart of St Andrew. Its focus is on great tasting bistro food and ethically source the best local produce.  All the fresh vegetables are nicely displayed in the entrance and the chefs come and choose what they need. This is a very funky venue and would be an ideal venue for large informal dinners. The restaurant/booths at this venue are not private and the venue could get quite noisy if there was a lot of customers. If there is a large number of delegates we would recommend exclusive hire of this venue.

This is a very rustic and unique venue which would be great for private events. The barn is open during the summer months from Thursday to Sunday. The barn has the majority of its structure which is built up from huge wooden crates and a steal roof. With an open air style of cooking in a large open grill and oven, all the food served is to an exceptionally high standard with many of the produce such as sausages, steaks and burgers coming from the farm itself. The barn is situation down a long driveway, across from the car park, farm shop and café. This would be a lovely venue for summer parties, gatherings and informal dinners during the summer months. Due to the structure of the barn a site visit would be appropriate for any events due to take place during the start/end of summer due to temperatures.

The venue which is located on Kinkell farm which is located a short drive away from St Andrews with coastal views. The main space can hold events for up to 300 for dinners and up to an additional 200 in one of the adjacent spaces which would still have access to the dance floor, catering area and still feel like part of the event. The space is absolutely stunning and is a great venue for Gala dinners, awards evenings and parties. The byre and the Stables has all the original wooden beams and stone walls, this is really lovely venue and is very versatile for any event. The use of lighting, candles, soft furnishings and AV equipment really does transform this barn into a dream venue for any event. Although the venue is located outside of St Andrews a taxi company can be supplied at a charge to ensure all delegates arrive at the venue. I would suggest a site visit for any events where wheelchair users will be attending.

Balgove Larder Steakbarn

Forgans

This restaurant is situated in the heart of St Andrew. Its focus is on great tasting bistro food and ethically source the best local produce.  All the fresh vegetables are nicely displayed in the entrance and the chefs come and choose what they need. This is a very funky venue and would be an ideal venue for large informal dinners. The restaurant/booths at this venue are not private and the venue could get quite noisy if there was a lot of customers. If there is a large number of delegates we would recommend exclusive hire of this venue.

The Clubhouse

The Clubhouse overlooks 2 championship golf courses and has stunning views over the bay of St Andrews. The venue uses locally sourced Scottish ingredients to offer simple yet impressive dinning with excellent service.  This venue is a stunning dinner option in the evenings with the backdrop of the lights of St Andrews which create a wonder ambiance for any event. The Clubhouse can be hired for exclusive use. The venue is located outside of St Andrews with a small car park, and we would recommend transfers to/from this venue.

Hill of Tarvit

This venue is 12 miles outside of St Andrews and is owned by the National Trust for Scotland and is steeped in history. The venue can offer a range of activities such as murder mystery events, a game of crocket on the lawn or a game of golf as it has a hickory golf course which has been rebuilt as used by the Sharpes’ family. The Hill of Tarvit is more geared towards dinners, drinks reception or weddings, if clients are looking for something a little bit different this would be an ideal, elegant and traditional venue. The venue can accommodate up to a maximum of 60 delegates for dinner and up to 100 guests for a drinks reception. If client are having a dinner they are unable to serve red wine in some of the rooms due to the amount of fine art work, original tapestries and antique flooring.

I recently attended a Fam trip to the Fairmont St Andrews, it is a stunning venue and ideal for so many events. I really enjoyed the highland games event which was organised for us and the Burns Night dinner was truly unforgettable. So much time and effort went into organising this trip and I would like to thank all at the Fairmont St Andrews for a great trip. I had a truly amazing experience and look forward to working with them on future events as I know 100% my clients will be very and truly looked after.

The conference space at this venue is fit for purpose has the use of lots of outside space including grassed areas and patio area which is ideal for team building and outdoor events. The venue can organise a Highland games themed team building activity, Whisky Distillery tours and many other activities. The conference area has 10 multi-purpose large and smaller meeting rooms all located in the same area which is ideal to ensure smooth running of events that require syndicate rooms. The Robert Burns Ballroom is 6179 sq ft and is a great space for product launches and other large events. This space also has a loading ramp which is great for any product / car launches. The Ballroom has numerous doors which delegates can exit the space and will alleviate any bottlenecks once an event has finished.  The venue has a large Atrium area which can hold up to 1000 delegates, which would be ideal for large Gala Dinners and extravagant product launches and events. Although the Ballrooms does not have natural daylight it has excellent use of light and would be a great space for any large event  The John Barbour Auditorium can seat up to 106 delegates with fixed seating and in built equipment. Many of the meeting rooms have French doors which open out onto a paved terrace area which is ideal for outside lunches, the terrace area leads out on to grassed area which is great for outdoor team building activities. The entire conference space can be hired for exclusive use. The Fairmont St Andrews has an Italian eatery which can be hired for exclusive use. The restaurant offers a relaxed and an informal setting with great tasting simple Italian dishes with exceptional service, an ideal location to break up any residential stay with a chilled and relaxed dinner.  Dundee airport is just a 20 minute drive away, with Edinburgh being about an hour. This is a great venue and organisers should not be put off by distances.

Kinkell Byre Barn

Balgove Larder Steakbarn

Forgans

This restaurant is situated in the heart of St Andrew. Its focus is on great tasting bistro food and ethically source the best local produce.  All the fresh vegetables are nicely displayed in the entrance and the chefs come and choose what they need. This is a very funky venue and would be an ideal venue for large informal dinners. The restaurant/booths at this venue are not private and the venue could get quite noisy if there was a lot of customers. If there is a large number of delegates we would recommend exclusive hire of this venue.

Do You Really Know The Grove, The Runnymede-On-Thames And The Athenaeum Hotels?

Do you really know The Grove, The Runnymede-on-Thames and The Athenaeum Hotels?
Do you really know The Grove, The Runnymede-on-Thames and The Athenaeum Hotels?

Here are some fun facts that we learnt last week when these hotels came to visit … you’ll be able to amaze your delegates with this fascinating information .

THE GROVE

•         Queen Victoria is said to have invented ‘the weekend break’ following her visits to The Grove.

•         George Stubbs was a frequent guest of the Earls of Clarendon and many of his works feature the horses on the estate.

•         The Grove was the secret wartime HQ for the London, Midland & Scottish Railway.  It was of great strategic importance and called “Project X”.

•         The cast of Harry Potter stayed at The Grove whilst filming the most successful film series of all time at nearby Warner Bros Studios Leavesden.

•         In 2006, The Grove welcomed the world’s top 64 players as part of the World Golf Championships, which was won by Tiger Woods.

•         The Grove is a popular destination for sports teams and has welcomed international sides for football, rugby, cricket and the NFL.

THE ATHENAEUM

•         To work on his movies, Steven Spielberg installed an edit suite in the adjoining apartment to his own and edited ET, First Encounters and Indiana Jones right there.

•         During World War II, Winston Churchill used the disused tube station on Down Street as a secret bunker and requested that the Athenaeum provide all his meals.

•         The 8-storey Living Wall at the front of the building contains more than 12,000 plants. It helps keep the hotel warm during the winter and cool during the summer!

•         The Whisky Bar is home to over 300 types of whisky (and counting) – an unrivalled selection in London!

THE RUNNYMEDE

•         The Runnymede-on-Thames has the UK’s only HotTug boat, if you fancy sailing down the river in a hot tub!

•         The hotel is located on the meadows opposite where the “Magna Carta” or “The Great Charter” was signed on 15th June 1215. It’s the 800th Anniversary this year.

•         The JFK Memorial is nearby; it’s a British memorial to the assassinated president  and was jointly dedicated in May 1965, by Queen Elizabeth II and Jacqueline Kennedy, prior to a reception for the Kennedy family at Windsor Castle.

•         Olympic welcome. On Bank Holiday Monday 25th August 2008, the Runnymede-on-Thames hosted Team GB’s homecoming following their most successful Olympics in 100 years.

These include:
