The Rubens at the Palace has transformed one of it’s sides into a spectacular ‘vertical garden’ known as our Living Wall . Covering an expanse of 350 square metres with over 10,000 ferns and plants, the garden will evolve with each season, taking on a new spectacular appearance. Whilst it undoubtedly looks great, the Living Wall also promotes significant environmental benefits, including air quality and attracting important wildlife, such as bees, butterflies and birds.

The wall also helps by raising the hotel’s temperature in the winter and lowering it in the summer, whilst helping provide a water storage location.

Apollo Hotels & Resorts Group Grow In The Netherlands

A representative from one of the newest hotel groups, Apollo, visited Trinity yesterday to introduce us to their diverse collection of 15 hotels based in the Netherlands and Belgium. The hotel chain is owned by 3 entrepreneurs who previously worked for Scandic before starting their own company 7 years ago.

Each hotel is independently run by its own manager who will be able to offer a bespoke package for your event. Three of the hotels are based in Amsterdam with the largest being the Ramada Apollo which used to be an office block until last year and has been completely renovated to become a contemporary 4 star city centre hotel with 446 bedrooms and 8 meeting rooms that can hold up to 250 delegates.

Currently featured in the press as the place to be is the Ramada Apollo’s sky bar “Floor 17” where you can enjoy cocktails and incredible views over the city.

Also renovated and refurbished last year was the Crowne Plaza Den Haag in The Hague. As a 5 star hotel with spa facilities this property offers very competitive day delegate rates of approximately €75 compared to the rates available in Amsterdam which are currently around €80-€85.

The Apollo collection also includes the Holiday Inn Ijmuiden Seaport Beach where delegates may be offered the unique experience of dinner in an old fortress based off- shore on an island 20 minutes away by boat.

Something to note -Wi-Fi is available complimentary across the whole hotel group.

Trinity Raises £20,840 For Local Charities

The target was to raise £20,000 for Rutland Sailability, Hospital at Home and The Children’s Air Ambulance service.  These three local charities were chosen by staff at the beginning of the year as part of Trinity’s on-going CSR programme and each received £6,667.00.  The surplus has been donated to two more charities which Trinity supports:  £740 to Meetings Industry Meetings Needs and £100 to Tenovus.

Daniel Routt, Special Projects Manager at The Children’s Air Ambulance, said: “The online charity auction set up by the Trinity Event Solutions team was an excellent example of fundraising by thinking outside the box. The innovative auction raised a phenomenal amount of income (£6,670.00) for TCAA as well as helped boost the profile nationally of the new service.  The team from TCAA would like to thank everyone involved for such an excellent initiative and an extraordinary amount of income raised in such a short space of time. The team at TCAA have thoroughly enjoyed working with Trinity Event Solutions.”

Ros Mulholland-Gullick, of Rutland Sailability, said her charity had bought a new Challenger boat which would be used by members for racing.  She added: “This will really make a difference.  It is the most in-demand boat that we have got.”  The new boat will be named Trinity.  Dee George, of Peterborough-based Hospital at Homes, said: “It’s an amazing donation.  It will mean we will be able to nurse more patients in their own homes.”

Tim Chudley, MD of Sundial Group whose Highgate House and Barnett Hill were included in the challenge was thrilled to receive the cheque as Trustee of Meetings Industry Meeting Needs.  He added: “I know that the best hotel booking agencies ensure their people know the venues they book for their clients so to cover so many in such a memorable, creative and fun way whilst raising much needed funds for less fortunate people was a stroke of genius.“

Jacqui Kavanagh, MD of Trinity Event Solutions was delighted with the fund-raising and said:  “This was a huge achievement and I would like to thank all the hotels and venues for supporting us, as well as the whole team who gave up their time and put a lot of work into making this a success.  This initiative supports our CSR policy and we are delighted to make a contribution to local charities that will really make a big difference to their work.”
