Birmingham Venue Refurbishment Enters New Phase

With £1.8million spent over the last few months, the ICC has seen refreshes on halls 4, 9 and 10 along with four of its executive meeting rooms. One of the most noticeable improvements has been the addition of large format digital screens throughout the public mall and portable screens. There has also been investment in upgrading the Wi-Fi along with modernisation of the lighting throughout the Mall, registration and foyer areas. The £10m refurbishment programme has already provided a facelift to the venue’s largest flat-floored space, the 3,000m² Hall 3, Registration Area and Mall in 2015.

The ICC values customer feedback and knows that listening to its clients and understanding their needs is crucial in order to deliver exceptional service.

As such, the ICC has conducted nearly 500 detailed monthly customer feedback surveys since May 2013 via an independent third-party research agency and consistently receives an average score of 9/10; so far this year 98% of those surveyed have said they would bring another event to the ICC. The ICC also scores 4.5/5 on TripAdvisor® visitor reviews, which led to the venue receiving the TripAdvisor® Certificate of Excellence, awarded to hospitality businesses that continually delivered a high quality customer experience.

Celtic Manor Convention Centre

Construction starts in February 2017 at the International Convention Centre at Celtic Manor Resort near Newport. The £100m convention centre is due to start the construction phase around the 9th February and last approximately 2.5 years. The chief executive of Celtic Manor Ian Edwards said the new convention centre is set to help Wales compete in the international conference business of which he estimates Wales currently secures just 1.5% of the marketplace.

Consisting of a 4,000 seater ballroom, this will be the largest of only 3 pillar free ballrooms in Europe and the venue will be able to cater for 5,000 delegates in total. In addition to the meeting space the venue will have an additional 700 underground car parking spaces.

Once the venue is open it is expected to bring 100,000 bedroom nights and £70million economic benefit to the local area every year

The Refinery Spinningfields – Now Open

The Refinery Spinningfields, an all-day Bar and Restaurant in the new XYZ Building in Spinningfields opened on Monday (28th November) and is part of the Drake and Morgan Portfolio. The venue offers corporate venue hire and its location in the centre of Manchester’s business district supports this offering. The venue is ideal for mid-sized corporate events but if you do have a large event they will look at offering hire of the entire venue. The venue also has an outdoor terrace, an ideal backdrop for evening events in this fashionable drinking and dining district!

New Apex Hotel Opening In Bath Summer 2017!

A new hotel is set to open in Bath and will be part of the Apex Hotel Group. Due to open in summer 2017 the 4 star hotel will have 177 bedrooms and various meeting facilities which will include the largest room to fit 420 theatre.

The hotel will be located in central Bath, within 10 minute walk to local attractions such as the Roman Baths as well as within easy reach of transport links.

This hotel will sit within the Apex brand which is a family owned company which started in Edinburgh, currently there are 3 properties in London, 4 in Edinburgh, 1 in Glasgow and 1 in Dundee.

Coming New To Dubai

Two more St Regis hotels are also coming on stream: scheduled for next year is the 136-room St Regis Dubai Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club, which will feature a state-of-the-art polo academy with four polo fields, show jumping and dressage arenas, while the following year St Regis Dubai – The Palm (picture featured) will boast the world’s highest infinity pool located on the 50th floor.
Madinat Jumeirah: a new hotel, the Jumeirah al Nasim, the sea breeze, is opening at the end of this year with 430 rooms.
Al Habtoor City is Dubai’s first integrated resort. Situated on the new Dubai Water Canal, it will offer three new hotels, a shopping boulevard and a spectacular water-themed show by Dragone, the first permanent water-based production set in a purpose-built theatre. The St Regis Dubai offers bespoke luxery across 234 rooms while the W Dubai has 356 rooms.
The Langham, Palm Jumeirah, will open at the end of this year, the group’s first Middle Eastern Resort.
Set on the Pearl Jumeirah waterfront, the Nikki Beach Resort & Spa Dubai opens this year offering 117 rooms and suites as well as 15 ultra-deluxe villas.
Dukes is opening its first property outside the UK with 273-room Dukes Oceana Dubai, set on the trunk of The Palm Jumeirah.

Paris Convention Centre – The Largest Exhibition Space In Europe

Following an investment of £358m, the Paris Convention Centre will be a 72,000m squared space that will include a main conference room capable of accommodating up to 5,200 delegates. It will be directly connected 44,000m squared of exhibition space, creating the largest space in Europe. Located only 15-minute walk from the Eiffel Tower, the venue will be supported by numerous transport links with a Metro stop directly outside.

Warwick Conferences Has Announced ‘The Slate’

Warwick conferences has announced that its new venue will be known as ‘The Slate’. It is located on the University of Warwick campus and cost £5.3m.

The venue will offer 650sqm of flexible event space with capacity for 400 delegates seated. It is a blank canvas space and is available on an exclusive basis only. The venue is located in a beautiful waterfront location adjacent to the existing training and conference venues – Scarman and Radicliffe. Guests using the venue will have access to the 358 hotel-style bedrooms located at the Scarman and Radcliffe conference centres. The blank canvas space will welcome its first corporate client in December.

Birmingham Voted The Favourite Conferencing Destination

Birmingham has just been announced as UK event organisers favourite business tourism destination outside of London. The annual British Meetings and Events Industry Survey reported nearly 500 conference organisers and revealed that Birmingham was the preferred choice outside of the capital city to host events. Meet Birmingham have secured 56 new national and international events in 2016 an increase of a staggering 133% on the previous year, bringing an estimated £35 million to the local economy. This is the eighth time in a row that Birmingham has been voted the top region and they put is years success to the Conservative Party Conference that was held earlier on in the year in the city. This growth has allowed the city to invest in new venues and hotels including the new Park Regis and Birmingham Conference and Events Centre.
