Fattal hotel group has acquired a site in Manchester’s Adair Street where it will open a 275-bedroom Leonardo hotel in 2021, the opening follows Fattal’s purchase of the Midland hotel in Manchester in October.

The hotel will incorporate a gym as well as a restaurant and bar and will located in an area earmarked by Manchester City Council for regeneration with the intention of creating a new urban quarter for commercial and residential use

Modular budget hotel concept Qbic is set to open in Manchester, its second UK site following its London’s Whitechapel opening five years ago. Work has begun on converting John Dalton House in Manchester, a former office block, into a 261-bedroom Qbic hotel, which is due to complete in February next year.

The brand has one other property, the Qbic Amsterdam WTC (World Trade Center), which launched in 2007.

The National Gallery has added two new outdoor event spaces for 2019, increasing its portfolio to twenty-two locations within the venue, the National Gallery Garden and Jubilee Walk will be available for hire from January 2019, with various features to allow for a range of different events, both during the day and evening.

It has been confirmed today that Hyatt Hotels Corporation has won the bid to operate the new Spa & Conference hotel at Edinburgh Marina. This is the international hotelier’s first hotel in Scotland.


The Hyatt Regency hotel at Edinburgh Marina will have 187 bedrooms including a two bedroom Presidential suite together with 98 one, two and three bedroom Hyatt Regency Residences serviced apartments. These apartments will be designed and fitted to the same specification as the hotel room enabling guests to enjoy the service and amenities of a hotel, whilst enjoying all the benefits of a self-contained apartment.

The property will also feature a health spa and fitness centre, a 10,000 sq.ft conference & banqueting centre, restaurants and bars. The hotel will overlook the new 340 berth Edinburgh Marina which will uniquely, for this coastline, provide 24/7 access at all states of tides.

The opening of the latest hotel in the Dakota brand has been confirmed for May 2019, Dakota Deluxe Manchester, located on Dulcie Street, near Piccadilly Station will open with 137 bedrooms, including 27 suites one of which is called the Grand Deluxa and will be the largest suite in the city.


The property will also feature the Grill, the bar, Champagne Room and cigar garden and will join two existing Dakota Deluxe hotels in Glasgow and Leeds and two properties under the more accessible Dakota brand in South Queensferry, Edinburgh, and Eurocentral, on the outskirts of Glasgow.

InterContinental Hotels Group’s (IHG) Voco brand has made its European debut in Cardiff following the rebrand of the Principal Hotel Cardiff.


The 142-bedroom Voco St David’s, Cardiff, is the second hotel to join IHG’s new upscale brand, following the opening of the Voco Gold Coast in Australia earlier this month.


Three other hotels set to join Voco next year are Oxford Thames, Oxford Spires and the Grand Central Glasgow. 15 more UK hotels are expected to sign up to the Voco brand by the end of 2018.

The Grosvenor hotel at London’s Victoria is to be re-branded under GLH Hotels’ Amba brand following its refurbishment, the 345-bedroom property, which is at the moment operating under the Guoman Hotels brand, is currently undergoing a redesign ahead of relaunching under the group’s four-star brand. The project is scheduled to be complete by the end of 2019.


The refurbishment will be phased, with the Grosvenor Arms restaurant and Tea Lounge already complete. The hotel’s bedrooms, meetings and events spaces, and additional food and beverage outlets will be fully refurbished throughout next year.

Planning permission for 59 bedroom world class boutique hotel in a historic Blythswood Square building in Glasgow has been given the go ahead.


The property comprises 5 to 7 Blythswood Square, the entrance to 5 Blythswood Square was remodelled by Charles Rennie Mackintosh for the Lady Artists’ Club in 1905. The B-listed properties were built in 1826 as townhouses but were last used as offices.


There is currently one hotel on the square, the Principal Blythswood Square Hotel.
