Mint hotels are being taken over by Blackstone, the owners of Hilton. This will see the hotels rebranded as follows:
• DoubleTree by Hilton London – Tower of London
• DoubleTree by Hilton London – Westminster
• DoubleTree by Hilton Amsterdam Central Station
• DoubleTree by Hilton Manchester Piccadilly
• DoubleTree by Hilton Leeds City Centre
• Hilton Garden Inn Glasgow City Centre
• Hilton Garden Inn Bristol City Centre
• Hilton Garden Inn Birmingham Brindley Place
In December, the doors will reopen on one of Edinburgh’s revered Victorian buildings, the Scottish National Portrait Gallery. The spectacular transformation has taken down false walls and revealed features now lovingly restored. There are more galleries and much more space for new exhibits. The maximum number for a sit-down dinner is 120, with top class catering supplied by Heritage Portfolio.
Leicester Conferences is the dedicated conference and accommodation team within the University of Leicester. Opening soon is the new Gilbert Murray Conference Suite; a state-of-the-art dedicated year-round conference venue set amongst 40 acres of landscaped grounds and botanic garden. With its large central hall, surrounding seminar rooms and hospitality lounge, Gilbert Murray Conference Suite has been designed to suit any type of conference, meeting or event, making it the ideal and very accessible venue centrally located at the heart of England.
Hotel La Tour is a new hotel in the city Centre of Birmingham which is due to open at the end of February 2012. The hotel will be to 4* standard and will have 174 bedrooms, dedicated Conference space to fit a maximum of 120 delegates, a destination restaurant and a vibrant street café. The hotel is being built to a very high standard with lots of high tech features both in the meeting rooms and bedrooms. There will be complimentary wi-fi throughout and built in projectors & screens in the meeting rooms. The Birmingham hotel is going to be the first Hotel in the Group, and a site in Manchester has also been secured. The plan is to have 5 hotels over the next 5 years building up to around 12 hotels in total. Other locations could be Bristol, York, Maidenhead, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Bristol’s Engineers House is due to re-vamp all lounges, dining rooms, coffee stations and breakout areas as well as having a complete makeover of the Blue Room lounge and restaurant. The venue feels the improvements will take this elegant 19th century to a new level of excellence and comfort.
