The Nyx Milan will open at the end of February. Nyx is a new brand from Leonardo Hotels. They are lifestyle hotels, creative and avant-garde, inspired by the city where they are located. Every furnishing and accessory is made to measure, as well as using works of art by local artists.
The Nyx Milan is located close to the Central Station and will incorporate Milan’s fashion, art and music culture.The restaurant, patio bar and lounge are all connected to each other and will start the eventing as spaces relax and eat, but later the area will be transformed into a club.
The Nyx will have 299 bedrooms including 21 suites and flexible event spaces for up to 300 guests.
Nyx hotels are also being built in Prague, Munich and Madrid. In Israel, the first NYX Hotel was opened last August, in one of the most fashionable locations of Tel Aviv.

In 2016 Sketchley Grange underwent a £1.5M refurbishment and the investment programme will continue into 2017 with the reception area, Bradgate Suite facilities and the leisure club reception all receiving a soft refurbishment.
The Garden Bar has been fully refurbished along with all classic bedrooms – air conditioning has now been installed in all of these.
Sketchley Grange has everything all under one roof, 12 meeting rooms with a maximum capacity of up to 300 people all offering exclusivity to clients when booking large conferences, leisure and spa facilities along with hairdressers onsite and 300 complimentary car parking spaces.

Here’s a roundup of news from the Minor group’s hotels in Portugal. Some properties were upgraded in 2016 and others are being done now: Firstly let’s take a look at the Lisbon area:
The Tivoli Lisboa
Renovation of this hotel is due to be completed by the end of March 2017. The hotel is right in the centre of Lisbon and there will be a new lobby, restaurants, health club and spa as well as 286 renovated bedrooms. As you can see from the picture, this hotel has a lovely rooftop bar and terrace.
Avani Lisboa
The public areas are being renovated, including landscaping, the façade, verandas, entrance and reception area. The bedrooms will have a contemporary feel with new technology.
Tivoli Oriente
The bedrooms, meeting rooms and public areas were renovated during 2016.
Tivoli Palacio de Seteais
This 18th century palace is located in the Sintra hills, surrounded by stunning views and beautiful mountains. It has 30 bedrooms and is classical in style.

Anantara Vilamoura
This hotel will be rebranded as Anantara on the 1st April and it will be the first Anantara hotel in Europe. Anantara is a luxury hospitality brand for modern travellers.
Tivoli Carvoeiro
This hotel will open on 1st April having been fully refurbished and it will now be a 5* property, not 4* as it was previously.
Tivoli Marina Vilamoura
The Congress Centre, which holds 3,500 people will be completed in May this year. It has views of the beach and marina and a new pool area which can be used for private functions. There will be 3 floors, with convertible meeting rooms, and adjacent foyers and terraces to serve coffee breaks and other F&B functions. The meeting space will be flexible. Bedrooms in this hotel were refurbished in 2016.
The Minor group has 149 hotels in 22 countries across the world.

Once a police ‘section house, the new Doubletree is in a 1940’s building which has been restored with a contemporary flare while preserving its historic charm. It is close to the Royal Observatory, The Royal Navy College and the Cutty Sark.
The hotel has two meeting rooms capable which can hold 70 people in theatre style, as well as a boardroom. There is also a viewing deck on the 8th floor which has views over the city of London.

Situated overlooking the sea and close to the beach, the Hotel Pullman Barcelona Skipper is in an ideal location for both business and leisure, ‘Bleisure’ as the hotel like to refer to it! The key and main objective at the hotel is to offer a very personalised service, recognising each client as unique.
The hotel boasts of 241 comfortable bedrooms, two swimming pools, a gym and a spa. The Pullman is able to cater for large numbers in the meetings and events space, allowing exclusive treatment for clients.
Accorhotels have a program called Planet 21, clients can discover information of this project at the hotel or at Accorhotels website and see the actions taken by Accorhotels and each particular hotel.

The refurbishment will be completed floor-by-floor and as it is a soft refurbishment there will be minimal disruption. The rest of the hotel will be operating as usual.
All of the rooms are set to be completed by the end of April 2017.

There’s lots going on in London this year and we’ve a round up of some new restaurants coming on to the scene:
La Dame de Pic at Four Seasons Ten Trinity Square (pictured)
The chef is from the only current French female chef with three Michelin stars, Anne-Sophie Pic. The food will be French in a classic English environment. It’s her first restaurant in the UK and is due top open on 26th January.
Hai Cenato an Italian restaurant from Jason Atherton
Due to open in February, this restaurant is located in the NOVA complex located next to Victoria station. The menu will be made up of small plates, pasta and risotto, grills and pizzas made in the restaurant’s own custom-built pizza ovens. The bar will be called the Drunken Oyster.
D&D are opening Aster in Victoria and an Italian in Islington
Aster will open on the 1st February 2017 and is also in the NOVA complex located next to Victoria station. The food will be a mix of Nordic cuisine with the classic French techniques. The 10,000-square foot space will be on two floors comprising a café and deli on the ground floor and an upstairs restaurant and bar.
After 15 years in Islington, D&D London, Almeida (just off Upper Street) has closed and will be relaunched as an Italian restaurant in March 2017
The Game Bird at The Stafford
The Stafford London in St James’s will relaunch its restaurant as The Game Bird. The food will be the best of British cooking, including game, but with modern touches. The chef, James Durrant, has more than 20 years’ experience in Michelin-starred restaurants.
Mexican cuisine at the InterContinental London Park Lane
Chef Martha Ortiz is Chef Patron of Mexico City’s award-winning Dulce Patria, one of Latin America’s most exciting restaurants, with Mexican food and traditions. The restaurant will introduce Mexican design and culture and this is in addition to Theo Randall’s restaurant which is already established.

Seven hotels will open under this new brand by the end of March this year. They are limited-service, budget properties and include the Tune Hotels at London at Canary Wharf, Liverpool St, Westminster, Kings Cross and Paddington, which will be relaunched as Point A Hotels. Two newly built properties will open in Shoreditch, London (181 bedrooms) and Glasgow (122 bedrooms) which will bring the combined portfolio to 1,100 bedrooms. It is expected that bedroom rates will start from £39 per night in Glasgow and £69 in London.
This means that there will only be three remaining Tune properties operating in the UK in Liverpool, Newcastle and Edinburgh.

Currently the Centre has 20 halls with a total exhibition space of 13,000 metres squared, as well as 50 meeting rooms with capacities to fit between 20 to 2,764.
