Sheraton Hotels & Resorts has debuted in Madrid with the opening of the Sheraton Madrid Mirasierra Hotel & Spa. Owned by Comercial Mirasierra Group, the hotel is part of Starwood’s strategic multi-billion expansion plan to open more than 60 Sheraton hotels around the world in the next three years.

Located in the residential area of Mirasierra near the buzzing city center, the Sheraton Madrid Mirasierra Hotel & Spa comprises 180 spacious guest rooms, each featuring the brand’s signature all-white Sheraton Sweet Sleeper(R) bed, an all-day dining restaurant, lobby bar, terrace lounge and pool bar. The hotel also offers Sheraton Fitness programmed by Core Performance, a spacious spa as well as an indoor and outdoor pool. For business travelers, the hotel features a fully-equipped business center and over 13,000 square feet of meeting space including a ballroom of approximately 9,000 square feet and eight meeting rooms.

Emperador Hotel in Madrid, located in the famous Gran Vía of Madrid, on completion of a refurbishment programme opened its Roof Garden, terrace and pool on the 30 April.

The Roof Garden features a magnificent 10x15m swimming pool – with a maximum depth of 3m – a solarium with sun beds, changing rooms, a snack and cocktail bar, a chillout area, Wi-Fi, and breathtaking views Madrid, among other things.

The Skål Club, the international tourism association, is holding its annual Gala Dinner in the Empire Room of the Hôtel de Paris on 15 September 2012

Skål is an international organisation for professionals from the travel industry. Its aim is to promote friendship through tourism.

It was founded in Paris in 1932 following a familiarisation trip in Scandinavia. Today, it has 23,000 members in 87 countries, in around 500 clubs.

The “Belle Epoque” Gala Dinner on 15 September will be held in honour of Prince Rainier III.

Period costumes and a French Can-Can show will help to give the evening a Belle Epoque atmosphere. A 19th century menu will be served.

The Colombian Navy’s training ship will be in Monaco from Sunday 12 to Tuesday 14 August and will be open to the public

The Arc Gloria is a three-masted barque built in Bilbao, Spain, in 1967. As the Colombian Navy’s training ship, she represents her country at many ports of call.

The main mission of the Arc Gloria is to educate and train cadets from the Colombian Navy while developing friendly links with the navies of other countries.

The Gloria and her 166-member crew will be stopping in Monaco for the first time from 12 to 14 August 2012, as part of her annual training cruise.

The ship will be open to the public for visits throughout her stay in Monaco.

The Frankfurt-based hotel company Steigenberger will be acquiring representation at a further international airport by taking over the former Dorint Hotel Amsterdam-Airport with effect from 1 September 2012 and thus adding to the presence it already enjoys at Frankfurt Main Airport.  The elegant Four Star Superior Hotel at Schiphol, the fourth largest airport in Europe, will have 440 rooms including ten luxury suites, one executive suite, three restaurants, a Coffee and Wine Lounge, a Sports and Media Bar, an 800 m² gym and health spa area featuring a pool, an interior courtyard with a garden and terrace and comprehensive conferencing facilities extending over an area of 960 m². The Steigenberger Airport Hotel Amsterdam is located near to the Forest of Amsterdam and offers excellent transport links to the city centre, which is only ten minutes away by car.
