BMA House continues to develop hybrid and digital offering

As part of ongoing investment in the services most needed by clients, BMA House’s expert technicians have created a range of hybrid and digital event packages that reflect ongoing changes in the corporate and association meeting industry. These upgrades will ensure BMA House’s place as a leading London hybrid venue.

BMA’s flagship space, the Great Hall, is currently undergoing refurbishment that includes a fully equipped Hybrid Virtual Studio. A bespoke, custom-build to fit the Great Hall, the Studio is one of a kind and includes a prominent 20×10 green screen, 4 x PTZ HD camera set-up, streaming PC, VMix 4k Pro Software, relay monitors and professional lighting.

Including options for webcasting, breakouts, speaker only conferences and exhibitor/sponsor packages, the offering reflects both the challenges presented by COVID-19 and the future needs of event organisers.

Highlights from the packages include:

  • Webcasting – fully branded live streaming platform with up to 2,000 viewing hours of content. Created using professional cameras and sound suite managed by two technicians.
  • Fully Equipped TV Studio Layout including – Interview/chat style set up, sales or product launches, conferences/meetings, AGM’s etc. All with the ability to bring in remote guests to feature in the event.
  • Fully Virtual – Including a fully brandable Teams/Teams live solution and GotoWebinar platform
  • Dedicated technical support – taking the pressure off event organisers to ensure a smooth-running hybrid event from start to finish.
  • Breakout sessions – available direct from main sessions or via bespoke joining links. Full presentation setup with Q&A and interaction for up to 250 delegates.
  • Exhibitor and Sponsor spotlights – interactive demonstrations, virtual pitches and scheduled Q&A sessions. Run live or created in advance by professional film and edit teams.
  • Fully digital meetings – facilitated by BMA’s technical experts and capable of hosting virtual events for up to 2,000, this option takes away the hassle and challenges of running a digital event, allowing organisers to focus on the content.

Home to the British Medical Association since 1925, the sustainable venue boasts 22 unique and versatile spaces for up to 320 (without social distancing), including 11 purpose-built meeting rooms, all fitted with cutting edge AV technology.

Sustainability is a way of life for the team at BMA House, adopting green initiatives is essential, not only for the venue but also for clients, suppliers and events. Venues collaborate to promote Medical City

Three leading venues in the Euston area of London are joining forces to promote the area as a prime location for events linked to healthcare.  BMA House, RCP and Wellcome Collection all use their profits to help larger medical organisations achieve their mission.  During this challenging time, they wanted to demonstrate their unity through a common goal.

Often described as the Medical Mile, the area around Euston is a hub of leading venues with strong links to local hospitals, practitioners and research institutes.  It is an ideal place for any form of meeting or event linked to not just medicine but also the wider healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors.  Specifically, the three venues will be collaborating, referring opportunities, supporting each other’s events and providing multi-site spaces for meetings as necessary.  Together they offer a wide range of delegate packages, hourly rates, digital and hybrid solutions, ensuring all client needs are met.

After an extremely challenging year with lots of industry changes, all 3 venues have successfully received the MIA AIM Secure Accreditation and Visit Britain Good to Go Accreditation making them COVID safe venues for the future.

About the venues:

BMA House 

BMA House is located in the heart of London, just a short walk from Kings Cross, Euston and St Pancras stations as well as a variety of underground lines and key bus routes.  With sustainability and wellbeing at the heart of its offering, delegates can also benefit from the use of a clean air walking route – taking them off the major roads onto quieter, picturesque, less polluted local streets.  Their clean air walking route from Kings Cross for example, is 57% less polluted than a trip down Euston Road and has the benefit of being 1,000 steps – 10% of the recommended 10,000 a day.

The Royal of Physicians

The Royal College of Physicians was founded in 1518 by Royal Charter from King Henry VIII.  It is the oldest medical college in England. The venue offers highly versatile facilities, with 12 meeting spaces, including tiered auditoriums, conference, meeting, exhibition and dining spaces, with contrasting old and new styles to suit all tastes, giving clients a range of possibilities to create an unforgettable event.

Food trends for 2020 by BMA House catering partner CH&CO

At the start of a new decade, many organisers and event professionals are considering the food trends of 2020. CH&CO, catering partner for sustainable venue BMA House, is helping predict what will be popular for 2020 and beyond.

With over 10 years of experience working at CH&CO, Gary McKechnie, director of food, said: “Over the past five years restaurants have been inspired by street food open-style kitchens. Social eating is going from strength to strength and street food-style stalls are set to move inside. This will make destination dining more accessible by bringing top food and drink concepts together under one roof.”

Delegates are becoming increasingly more educated and environmentally conscious, this is naturally having an impact on food trends.

McKechnie’s predictions for 2020
  • Plant-based menus. The popularity of plant-based menus will keep growing. People will continue to recognise the health and sustainability benefits of plant-based food.
  • More gluten-free options. Using almond flour, rice flour and guargum (guar bean extract) especially in dishes with pasta or breads.
  • Fermented foods. Gut-healthy probiotics will continue to grow in popularity, such as tempeh, pickled vegetables, infused vinegars and fermented dairy products.
  • Levantine cuisine. (Eastern Mediterranean) is predicted to be an influential style for 2020, including Israeli, Turkish and Lebanese.
  • Cross-cultural fusion dishes. Mexican and Southeast Asian cuisine, French with Scandinavian flavours, Cantonese Chinese and Peruvian (or Chifa) and South American with Japanese.
  • Sour flavours: Rhubarb, tamarind and vinegar.
  • The Farm to Fork movement. With the general public becoming more eco conscious, this is set to become even more prevalent this year. From roof top allotment style gardens to supporting local farmers, people want to encourage a food production and consumption process that enhance environmental, economic, social and nutritional health.

BMA House, EDGE Venues+ Member, Award Winners

BMA House, an EDGE venues+ member has won the Hire Space prestigious Greenest Venue Award.

On Wednesday 24th October the BMA House events team saw the unveiling of the 2018 Hire Space Awards at Museum of London. This celebrated high achievers in the events industry within 15 categories. The team were shortlisted as a finalist in the Forward-Thinking Venues category for ‘Greenest Venue’, as well as the top senior sales and events planner, Hannah Anderson being nominated as ‘Unsung Hero’.

Up against strong competition from Lord’s Cricket Ground and ORTUS, they were lucky enough to win this prestigious ‘Greenest Venue’ award!


We are one proud events team! Winning this award has made all our efforts seem worthwhile. Our venue places sustainability at the heart of everything we do and we’ll continue to support sustainable events and encourage our organisers and delegates to do the same. Furthermore, achieving a Gold accreditation in Green Tourism in 2017, one of just five venues in London, was no mean feat for a Grade II listed building. This prestigious certification was awarded for our inspirational environmental ethos and excellent practices throughout the business. In turn this led to us winning this award. But for now, we’ll continue to celebrate this great achievement!
