Oulton Hall would be a fantastic option for delegates who are looking for a countryside location with close proximity to a major city .The bedrooms are in various stages of refurbishment, so it may be worth checking that VIP’s and other important delegates are placed in fully refurbished rooms.
The Leeds Club
The Leeds Club is one of Leeds’ most historic buildings- it is Grade II listed and acted as a private members’ club for over 150 years. The Club itself is located directly in the centre of Leeds, close to the train station and a number of surrounding hotels (the Club has no bedrooms on-site). There are 9 meeting rooms which are all decorated in a similar style- think traditional décor with period features- and the two largest meeting rooms can seat 160 theatre style. Due to the age of the building there are no lifts and therefore the majority of the venue is not wheelchair accessible. The venue does however have a planning application in progress to rectify this.
Horizon Leeds
Horizon Leeds is a creation of NHS Employers and is focussed on using state of the art and innovative technology to provide interesting and functional meeting spaces. There are three meeting spaces all with natural daylight, air conditioning and integrated electronically branded welcome points. Technology is key at Horizon Leeds, and the rooms are full of useful tools to help meetings run as smoothly as possible, including smart boards and video conferencing facilities. In addition to this, the venue has quirky additional perks, like lockable trays with chargers in, so delegates can leave their devices charging without worry. I think Horizon Leeds would be a fantastic choice for organisers who are looking for something innovative and exciting. There are different rates for Government companies and private companies, however, both are competitive for the area.
The Tetley
The meeting spaces at The Tetley are in the former headquarters of Tetley’s Brewery, including the Board Room, which is complete with historic furnishings and paintings of former Tetley’s chairmen. A great effort has been made to retain many of the original features of the building, resulting in an art-deco type feel. There are 4 meeting spaces, with the largest being able to seat 100 delegate’s theatre style and although the décor remains traditional, the rooms are all fitted with the latest AV equipment. A perk to booking a meeting at The Tetley is that the venue has recently been refurbished as a contemporary art gallery, so delegates can visit the exhibitions during break times. Car parking is located next to the venue (Brewery Car Park) but is chargeable.
The Venue Leeds – Leeds College of Music
Leeds College of Music is located in a very trendy area of the city, right by the BBC building, and is walking distance from the train station and city centre. The largest space is a state of the art 350-seat auditorium, which is suitable for a number of different events. As you can imagine, the auditorium is kitted out with theatre standard lighting and sound equipment as well as a projector and motorised screen. In addition to this, there is the slightly smaller Recital Room, which has retractable raked seating for up to 120 people. There are also a number of classrooms and meeting rooms that are for hire. It is a working college, so during term time there will be students in the communal areas of the building.
Royal Armouries
The Royal Armouries museum is located in the New Dock area of Leeds, a short distance away from the city centre, and is a really pleasant surprise! In the museum there is a two-tier lecture theatre, The Bury Lecture Theatre, which can seat up to 250 delegates – it is comfortable, stylish and contains top of the range A.V. equipment. There is also the grand Royal Armouries Hall, which can accommodate 1000 delegates in a reception style. As well as a few other suites and galleries, specific sections of the museum are available to hire, such as the War Gallery or the Oriental Gallery – any of these sections would make really interesting options for themed events or dinners. Across the road from the museum there is New Dock Hall, which is Leeds’ largest banqueting and exhibition venue, which can seat 1200 delegates in theatre style. It has no pillars and is essentially a blank canvas for large events. Set up for dinners it really is stunning. The displays in the museum revolve around war and weaponry, and whilst the museum does not promote war, it may be a sensitive issue for some companies.
The Queens Hotel
If your client is looking for a city centre location then you cannot get much better than The Queens Hotel which situated adjacent to the train station and a stone’s throw away from the city centre. There are 16 meeting rooms in total, which vary from small boardrooms for 6 delegates to the Queens Ballroom which is suitable for 500. There is an art deco style decor that runs throughout the hotel and meeting rooms. The meeting spaces are served by 215 spacious bedrooms. The décor is very traditional, this may not be to every organisers taste.
Park Plaza Leeds
This venue boasts a lovely city centre location and overlooks City Square. The hotel has 187 bedrooms which range from Superior rooms to Penthouse Suites, all of which are very modern and decorated in a contemporary style. Park Plaza Leeds has two dedicated conference floors which contain 11 flexible meeting rooms with capacities ranging from 30 – 180 theatre style. There is also the Chino Latino Restaurant and Bar as well as the Scene! Lobby Bar, so delegates have some choices if they wish to remain inside the hotel of an evening. All of the meeting rooms have natural daylight.
Rose Bowl – Leeds Beckett University
The Rose Bowl is a state of the art development within Leeds Beckett University which offers the latest in conference facilities. It is home to a very modern auditorium which can seat 256 delegates as well as smaller meeting spaces that can seat 20 delegates in a board room lay out. As you would expect from such a new development, the meeting spaces are kitted out with the very latest in A.V. equipment, such as projectors, permanent screens and free WiFi. Although there are no bedrooms on site, out of term time the Rose Bowl is able to use the student accommodation if necessary.Many of the meeting rooms and the accommodation are only available outside of term time.
Farmers and Fletchers in the City to open in September
Newly renovated London events venue Farmers and Fletchers in the City of London is set to launch to the corporate market on 1st September 2015. The venue has been closed since 2013 and has undergone a substantial renovation programme and as a result there will be 4 different meeting spaces. The largest room is able to accommodate 120 for a sit-down dinner. The venue is located at 3 Cloth Street and is in contemporary design but retaining the tradition of the livery halls, with ‘natural’ colours used throughout. It will also support British farming and suppliers through its in-house catering.
London’s new M by Montcalm hotel launches event space
Montcalm and Searcy’s have partnered to launch a new conference and events venue in Shoreditch’s recently opened M Hotel. The London venue features 5 private dining rooms and a large contemporary meeting room with flexible partitioning to suit different sized events. The space offers state of the art facilities and technology including plasma screens, AV equipment and complimentary high speed broadband. Catering will be led by Searcy’s and led by executive chef and star of The Great British Menu Paul Welburn. There will also be an on-site cocktail bar exclusively for delegates.
The Brighton i360 will be an exciting new venue in the city when it opens in 2016. It will have a vertical cable car and the world’s tallest moving observation tower. The futuristic glass viewing pod will be able to be hired exclusively for up to 200 delegates and the cable car pods can be tailored to event organisers’ requirements with food and beverage options. The ride on the i360 could also be combined with fine dining or team building activities.
In addition, there is a selection of beach-side meeting rooms for 10 to 300 people. These are located in a separate suite away from the main public building. All rooms have natural daylight, AV facilities, and views of the sea, beach and West Pier.

The hotel has 13 meeting rooms, the largest being the Henley Suite which takes 300 people in theatre style, 160 cabaret style or 200 for a dinner. The adjacent room, the Regatta Suite, can be used in conjunction with the Henley to boost conference numbers or for private registration, refreshments and exhibition space. Alternatively the Regatta Suite, which directly overlooks the river, provides a lovely location for dinners up to 60 guests. The bedrooms, some with views over the river, are modern with bright contemporary colours. Similar in style the RGB Grill & Bar, with a mixture of high and low comfortable seating, also overlooks the river and is the hub of the hotel with Costa Coffee and refreshments served all day. A large proportion of the hotel’s meeting space is currently undergoing refurbishment and this is expected to be finished at the end of June 2015.

Radisson Blu Manchester Airport undergoes major refurbishment
Radisson Blu Manchester Airport is the only hotel at Manchester Airport directly Sky-linked to all three terminals.
