Amsterdam RAI won the Best International Venue award at the 6th annual Exhibition News Awards on Thursday 29 March in London. The Excellence Awards are conferred annually on businesses that make outstanding contributions to the exhibition industry.
A new £15 million city centre hotel in London has been given the go-ahead by council planners. The proposed development at the site of the former Heaven and Hell nightclub in Anne Street is expected to create 60 permanent jobs. According to the company behind the scheme, it will be operated under the Hilton Garden Inn brand by the world-famous Hilton leisure group.

Nottingham Conference Centre has come top in an industry survey from academic venue consortium Venuemasters. Designed to provide a benchmark of service and response levels, the survey was conducted with 89 Venuemasters members and a sample of ten hotels and conference centres in January. Venues were scored in four categories – each representing a different element of the enquiry handling process, from the initial contact to following up the enquiry. Nottingham Conference Centre scored top marks in two of the categories and was rated very highly in the rest.

The five star Wyndham Bayscape Hotel will be situated in the tallest tower in Wales and is due to be opened in 2013. The venue will have 200 bedrooms and 3600 sqm of event space.

Boris Johnson announced yesterday during his press conference about cleaner air for London that an innovative green wall is set for The Mermaid Theatre, subject to planning permission, on one of London’s busiest roads. Not only are green walls visually stunning they also trap pollutants, removing them from the air.
