The Post Office has published its annual survey on international destinations, comparing eight tourist items in 46 destinations worldwide – including dinner for two, coffees and drinks.
Although this is a tourist-based survey, it also applies to the business traveller, who will want to consider the cost of incidentals, such as drinks and meals.
Key findings include:
- Low prices for meals in the Czech capital have made Prague this year’s best value destination but for a city visit Budapest is a bargain too
- Runner up, Portugal has the cheapest beach resorts – although the Algarve is only slightly cheaper than Spain’s Costa del Sol
- A 19 per cent fall in barometer costs makes Crete a hot tip for 2015
- Bali remains the cheapest long haul resort and along with Cape Town is one of only two destinations to feature in a barometer top ten dominated by Europe
- Dubai and Singapore are the most expensive destinations surveyed
