Doubletree by Hilton Cheltenham 

  • Alice Pleasance Liddell used to visit her grandparents just a mile away from DoubleTree Cheltenham. It was a visit to them by their friend Lewis Carroll that inspired the book “Alice Through the Looking Glass”. Principal Hotel Company Is To Redevelop The Grand Hotel In Birmingham

The Grade II listed building on Colmore Row, Birmingham has operated as a 180-bedroom hotel since the 19th century until it closed in 2002 and is now to be redeveloped by the hotel brand. Following extensive refurbishment, the hotel is scheduled to reopen in early 2019 and will feature conference and meeting spaces, spa facilities and a rooftop infinity pool.

The hotel will form part of a restored building which will also feature new shops and 1000 sqm of office space and intends to be ‘the finest hotel in Birmingham’ by Principal.

State of the art lounge opened at Ricoh Arena

A state-of-the-art lounge equipped for the digital age has been opened at the Ricoh Arena for the general public to work and study while on their travels. The Ricoh Business Lounge, situated on the first floor and big enough to host 500 delegates, is a flexible working space with interactive whiteboards and high-speed Wi-Fi. 

Tailored to different ways of working, including private pods and hot desks to think and concentrate, the Lounge also has a designated suite for private meetings. The Lounge is open Monday to Friday for visitors to use for free, subject to availability, and the space can also be pre-booked exclusively for events.

The judging panel was drawn from independent experts from Eurocontrol, ECAC, World Tourism Forum and magazine Air Transport World.

ACI Europe is the European branch of ACI (Airport Council International), the only global trade representative of the world’s airports. ACI represents the interests of 500 airports in 45 European countries and handles 90% of commercial air traffic in Europe, with 1.9 billion passengers a year.

After being recognised as the best airport in Southern Europe at the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2017 in March, Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas was named the best airport in Europe in several of the categories analysed at the thirteenth edition of the ACI Europe 2017, hosted last June 13th in the framework of the Annual Meeting of ACI Europe, in Paris.

Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport won praises for its strategy to boost the air connectivity between Europe and South America and for the continuous introduction of advanced technical innovations. The judges also noted the airport’s achievements in safety management, as well as managing operational security, and improving passenger experiences, including monitoring queue times at security checks, art exhibitions, and its personal shopper services. In addition, the airport’s diverse environmental initiatives and its focus on community relations also impressed the panel.

Solent Conference Centre in Southampton is located with the university’s new building, The Spark. They have installed a meeting facility called The Pod which has a fully functional lecture theater inside and seating area on top. The Pod is located in the Centre of the Atrium and gives the Conference Centre a futuristic feel.

Apex Bath is almost ready to open and within the next couple of months will be opening its doors for business. With conference facilities for 400 delegates it will be one of the largest conference facilities in the centre of Bath. The modern hotel will host 177 bedrooms, and if booked in advanced can be hired exclusively for larger conferences.

Apex will be keeping their high standards that are offered in their smaller properties in Edinburgh and London but now on a much larger scale. The hotel are happy to offer out their restaurant exclusively for conferences during lunch, but also can double up as a relaxed breakout space offering more flexibility. The hotel is now taking on bookings for accommodation and conferences from September 2017, but beware they are booking up quickly!

Having undergone a multi-million euro renovation, the neo-classical building now boasts 71 guest rooms displaying the contents of “Memories of Gran Vía” – a photographic art exhibition comprising 175 pictures of historic Madrid – as well as a picturesque terrace, a fitness centre, an on-site restaurant, two bars, and three meeting spaces totalling 990 square feet. Also, onsite is Casino Gran Vía, one of Madrid’s best-known casinos.

South Beach in San Francisco has become home to the the first new build hotel in the area in the last 12 years.  Hotel VIA is perfectly situated across the street from AT&T Park and has a variety of  flexible spaces to offer including a rooftop lounge boasting amazing views of the ballpark, the Bay Bridge, East Bay Hills and the city skyline.
