Mandarin Oriental has released plans for a new luxury hotel to open in Melbourne, Australia in 2023.
The hotel will be located in the Central Business District of the city, on Collins Street, which is currently undergoing regeneration. This location is close to the city’s Docklands and entertainment area.
Within the hotel guests can stay in 1 of the 196 bedrooms and enjoy dining on the roof terrace. There will also be various leisure facilities including a swimming pool, gym and spa.
There will also be meeting space, however capacities and further details are yet to be announced. More news to follow as we find out more about this exciting new hotel!

Best Western has recently become the largest hotel brand in Sweden following the acquisition of Sweden Hotel, which is a collection of independently owned and managed hotels throughout the country.
There ate 59 properties across the Sweden Hotel group, many of which have conference facilities, bringing Best Western’s portfolio to 135 across Sweden and 4,200 internationally.
The NH Hotel Group have opened another hotel under their NH Collection brand, the NH Collection Grand Sablon in Brussels, this hotel is the second of the brand in the Belgian capital and adds to its 67 existing hotels around the world. Located in the very heart of the city in the Sablon district which is well known for its many antique shops and art galleries.
The hotel offers 193 fully refurbished rooms along with event space that can accommodate 250 people and features 2 restaurants, Hispania Brasserie and Hispania Gastronomique, which are headed up by Michelin star chef Marcos Morán.
The Jurys Inn Watford came to the Trinity offices to tell us all about their exciting refurbishments. The hotel will have 199 completed bedrooms refurbishments by the 19th of June 2017, and have a fresh, tranquil look to them. The Restaurant, Bar and Reception are all starting their refurbishments in July which will complement the bedrooms.
The hotel has a great offer on their day delegate rate throughout 2017, if a conference is booked on a Monday or Friday then 1 in 10 delegates go free!
Last week the ground-breaking ceremony for the International Convention Centre Wales took place at the Celtic Manor Resort. A number of names in the corporate industry were onsite for the event, as well as our MD, Jacqui Kavanagh.
The convention centre is due to be open in 2019 and will host over 26,000 sqm of flexible event space. With an auditorium that can accommodate 1,500 delegates, pillar free ballroom of over 4,000 sqm and facilities to take on over 5,000 delegates. This is a joint investment from the Welsh Government and the Celtic Manor of over £83 million. The investment will hopefully put Wales on the map for congresses and larger events that they previously wouldn’t be able to have accommodated.
A second AC Hotel by Marriott to open in Manchester
A second AC Hotel by Marriott will open in Manchester and is expected to launch in 2019. AC Hotels by Marriott International was introduced to the UK last year with property openings in Birmingham and Salford Quays. The hotel will have 172 bedrooms across nine storeys and feature a gym, cafe restaurant, bar and meeting facilities.
Raffles Hotels and Resorts has announced that will transform the Old War Office building in Whitehall into a hotel and deluxe residences in London. The hotel is located close to 10 Downing Street, the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey.
Planning permission has been granted for a multi-purpose development including 125 bedrooms (of which 40% are suites), 88 private residences, restaurants and other amenities. The building is Grade II* listed and has 1,100 rooms on seven floors, and two miles of corridors, was completed in 1906. It was the office of many influential political and military leaders such as Sir Winston Churchill, David Lloyd George, Lord Kitchener, Herbert Asquith and T.E. Lawrence. It was also the location of the British Secret Service who had their own entrance.

The style of the property is a combination of Indian design in an 180-year old traditional English building.
The bar and lounge areas are the Headmaster’s Room and Teacher’s Room retain the original wood panelling and floors, fireplaces and ceilings. There are two restaurants, Baluchi serves a contemporary Indian menu and the Naanery creates variations on a perfect naan. The Terrace is an outside dining area. The hotel also has a spa and gym.
