The venue, which was originally a textile mill and has recently been used a creative arts and music hotspot, can host a maximum of 1,400 guests for a standing event. Seated banquets can also be arranged, for groups of up to 350.


This developing space also caters for outdoor events, with a large area able to accommodate a marquee along with wooden decking and seating. The venue can also host street food vendors for summer events and BBQs in the city.


Matt Long, venue and events manager at Canal Mills, said: “With four successful years under our belt as a music and arts venue, and having already hosted companies such as Spotify and Red Bull, we’re now officially launching Canal Mills as a multi-functional events space, which we hope will be a great addition to the events scene in Leeds.”

Gleneagles hotel in Perthshire has announced that it will see a multi-million pound refurbishment to upgrade and improve the property. The refurbishment comes as a result of a substantial investment from new owners of Gleneagles, Ennismore, and aims to make the most of the venues heritage, architecture and setting.


The refurbishment will see new spaces where guests can mingle whilst enjoying views of the Penrithshire countryside, and will be created throughout the public areas of the hotel. A new bar will open in the Dormy Clubhouse and the main bar will also be refurbished. The bedrooms will be transformed with detailing, fabrics and craftsmanship to create a warm country estate feel.


Gleneagles have put plans in place to keep disruption to a minimum, and the hotel will remain open throughout the refurbishment. The hotel plan to respect the buildings history and heritage, build on this. They will ensure the iconic Gleneagles brand remains synonymous with luxury, and maintains its position among the leading hotels of the world.

Park Plaza Riverbank is extending the hotel by an additional 5 floors. This will bring the total bedroom capacity to 650. This extension will also include additional meeting space which will now be located on the ground floor. The total capacity is 400 for a reception, splitting into 3 rooms to accommodate approximately 150 theatre, 80 theatre and 70 theatre style in each of the 3 sections accordingly.

The Thames meeting room is now becoming a new Latino Bar named Chino and will be located on the ground floor as well.

Throughout the year all of the bedrooms are being refurbished and the Ballroom and Plaza Suite have also recently undergone refurbishment including new carpets, lighting and décor.

The extension will be completed by the end of Summer 2016 and by the end of the year all refurbishment work will be complete.

Woburn Safari Park in Bedfordshire has reopened their event space following a complete internal and external renovation. 


The Safari Lodge is set within the grounds of the animal park and has expansive views across the animal enclosures. With a maximum capacity of 300 guests and an outdoor veranda area the space is stylish and suitable for a range of events as the room can be split into 2 for conferences or set up to suit a luxury dinner or an outdoor BBQ on the veranda.


As part of their packages they offer a VIP Experience whereby delegates will be taken on a Land Rover through the park to see the animals including commentary from a Park ranger. As well they have team building activities with incorporate activities and trials with the animals. Both could be an opportunity for team building, corporate away days and for something a little bit different for an event.

The Coldra Court hotel, which is located a few minutes away from the Celtic Manor Resort has 148 bedrooms, taking Celtic manor’s bedroom count up to 600. As part of the £2m upgrade, the hotel will be updating its conference facilities. The hotel currently has nine conference and meeting rooms, all housed in the newly rebranded Springs Health Club. The Severn suite, the largest conference and meeting space, can seat up to 220 delegates for a dinner. Coldra court plans for the hotel to be 4 star in terms of facilities but run it with the 5 star service standards associated with the Celtic Manor Resort.

Village The Hotel Club have announced details of a £35m investment plan that incorporates significant refurbishment plans & new technology starting with 8 of their key UK locations & more to follow. The first locations are: 


London Watford 

Coventry 

Manchester Cheadle 

Manchester Bury 

Warrington 

Cardiff 

Maidstone and 

Bournemouth 


To start, they are fully refurbishing all the bedrooms & bathrooms and both will have a new feature ‘stripe’ wall & new mattresses. Additionally, new 48’ wall mounted TV’s with their UpperDeck rooms featuring a 55’ inch wall mounted TV with Sky and Bluetooth sound bar. 


All bedroom corridors will be refurbished and following that, investment in the health & fitness clubs, their pubs The Public House, restaurants and conference & meetings rooms is planned. They are on track for completion by the end of April 2016. 

For their meeting and conference rooms, February sees the start of the installation of “click-share” wireless connectivity to TV’s and projectors, plus new 65’ TV’s in meeting rooms and new projectors in larger conference rooms. By the end of April 2016, all conference and meeting areas will have had a complete refurbishment in the 8 locations. Plans are also in place to then continue the meeting room refurbishment programme to the rest of the brand. 


Village Glasgow’s guests have been giving great feedback on the new self-service check in facility that was launched when the hotel opened in Summer 2015. 


Each kiosk, of which there are 4, allows you to search for your reservation by surname, allocates a room and issues you with a key. Their lobby hosts are on hand for any questions or any assistance required – shifting their focus from the computer screen to the customer. 


Based on their success in Glasgow, on completion of the refurbishment to the current 8 locations, self-service check in will be available. The remainder of the hotels will all have self-service check in by December 2016. 

Village has also recognised that good Wi-Fi is becoming a non-negotiable requirement when travelling on business or leisure and will have completed a wifi upgrade to all 28 of their UK locations by the end of March 2016 improving coverage and speed. Village continue to offer this free of charge to unlimited devices in each hotel. 


It is looking to be an exciting year ahead for Village as they continue their refurbishment, investment and development.

Meeting rooms have now been refreshed with new flooring, LED lighting, built in audio visual equipment and stylish furniture. The two main meeting suites can accommodate up to 100 delegates, a further meeting room for 30 delegates, 9 syndicates rooms. The refurbished lobby and reception area now boast a new central refreshment station for reviving breaks, it is ideal for exclusive use and standalone meetings and events.

The renowned Manchester interior design agency ‘NoChintz’ have been appointed to create the look for the new £250k village point development, which is due to open in Heaton Moor in late spring 2016. 

The 19th century building’s, a former Conservative Club, interior restoration commenced in winter 2015 and NoChintz is set to start work on the interiors shortly.


NoChintz is to re-create and bring to life a series of show stopping space for Village Point, this will include The Ballroom, which will accommodate events for up to 200 people, The Lodge, which will host smaller events and The Hub which will provide dedicated working spaces for freelancers and small businesses.


Each space will have its own unique identity; The Ballroom will offer classic grandeur with a modern twist. The Lodge, which will host regular music nights for the public as well as private events and will have a more cutting edge look to it. The Hub has been designed with a New York feel to it, creating a sense of calm and privacy within an open plan working space. 


The finished design has been devised to work across a whole host of uses from weddings to parties, conferences to acoustic nights, but still feeling seamlessly part of the overall Village Point experience.
