The renowned Manchester interior design agency ‘NoChintz’ have been appointed to create the look for the new £250k village point development, which is due to open in Heaton Moor in late spring 2016. 

The 19th century building’s, a former Conservative Club, interior restoration commenced in winter 2015 and NoChintz is set to start work on the interiors shortly.


NoChintz is to re-create and bring to life a series of show stopping space for Village Point, this will include The Ballroom, which will accommodate events for up to 200 people, The Lodge, which will host smaller events and The Hub which will provide dedicated working spaces for freelancers and small businesses.

Each space will have its own unique identity; The Ballroom will offer classic grandeur with a modern twist. The Lodge, which will host regular music nights for the public as well as private events and will have a more cutting edge look to it. The Hub has been designed with a New York feel to it, creating a sense of calm and privacy within an open plan working space. 


The finished design has been devised to work across a whole host of uses from weddings to parties, conferences to acoustic nights, but still feeling seamlessly part of the overall Village Point experience.

Hyatt Regency Paris Etoile is currently undergoing a €70,000,000 refurbishment which is due to be completed summer 2018. The extensive refurb of the whole hotel will include all guest rooms, taking the total up to 950, public areas and event spaces. The largest meeting room,can accommodate up to 700 delegates and can offer a further 25 break out rooms. The hotel is directly connected to Palias de Congrés, therefore works well for bedrooms if an event is being held there.

The Arbor Group have announced the launch of the Arbour City Hotel, the small luxury hotel, conveniently located next to Aldgate East underground station in the City of London, has had a complete refurbishment.The hotel offers modern, affordable and flexible meeting space all equipped with latest AV equipment and able to host up to 150 delegates, the function area also includes a small exclusive cinema room perfect for the more intimate numbers.


The hotels 115 air conditioned bedrooms have also been completely refurbished and the Arbor City is one of the only central London hotels to offer private parking on site.

Recently in the office we had a visit from Fairview Hotels, who are a small collection of Accor-branded hotels (and one independent), centred on Hertfordshire. The group have launched a refurbishment programme across most of their properties, with Novotel Stevenage being one of the first under the scalpel, and is due to become move from a 3* to a 4* property. The hotel is based just off the A1, within easy reach of the M25. Novotel Nottingham East Midlands has also started a refurbishment, and is also due to move from a 3* to a 4* category. The Mercure Letchworth, a 15-20 minute drive from the Novotel Stevenage, has also begun a full refurbishment of its meeting space, which is due to be completed by the end of March 2016.

Cameron House has announced a refurbishment project which is due to start in 2016. During the work the hotel’s swimming pool has been closed. The hotel is located on the banks of Loch Lomond and is only 20 minutes from Glasgow Airport. The Hotel has its own boat –  The Celtic Warrior, which can host lunches for up to 12 people on the Loch. The Hotel has 4 restaurants, from casual dining on the Marina in the Boat House to Fine Dining in the Michelin Starred  Martin Wishart Restaurant, and due to it’s surroundings can offer a number of activities for Team building  including: Clay Pigeon Shooting, Archery, Falconry, Sea Plane Trips, and Segway Safari, to name but a few.

IET London: Savoy Place has officially opened its doors for external events, following a two year and £30 million redevelopment.


Transformed from top to bottom, delegates to Savoy Place will be able to enjoy access to two brand new auditoriums with a combined capacity of over 600, a second lecture theatre, enlarged riverside suite, state of the art boardrooms, roof terrace, and a ‘sesame lift’ at the front of the building, which enables the stone steps to retract automatically for easy wheelchair access.


A series of digital exhibits throughout the venue were unveiled earlier in the year and are now on display. Highlighting the IET’s engineering history, the exhibits, including ‘100 engineering ideas that changed the world’ and two stairwell sculptures, celebrate the past, present and future of the IET and can be integrated into events


Digital displays including a futuristic digital chandelier hung in the reception and live video walls on the second floor, can both be personalised for large events and connected to live comment feeds.

Mary Ward House Conference and Exhibition Centre, has recently undergone some refurbishments which will be completed this week. 


‘’All works undertaking were sympathetic to the era and period of the original building as we wanted enhance on the existing ambience of the venue. The work spanned across our three floors and included flooring, plastering, paint colour schemes and creating a new lighting atmosphere across the venue.  The end result is bright and airy, welcoming rooms which have retained all key period features from the original build design. Clients can enjoy a range of soft colour schemes over our 14 rooms complemented by light wood floors and neutral wood works and finishing.’’ Nile Halson, Operations manager at Mary Ward House.

The renovation work has certainly achieved this, the rooms all have a quirky shabby chic feel to them, a great venue if you are looking for something a little different with lots of original features.

Mercure Bristol Grand came in to see us last week and have some exciting plans for 2016 and an interesting fact about a certain hole in the hotel.


The hotel provides 182 bedrooms and 11 meeting rooms and can boast being the largest hotel for meeting space in the city of Bristol,  located in the Old City just 10 minutes from Bristol Temple Meads Rail Station and 5 minutes from the Habourside and retail Shops. 


There will be a multimillion pound refurbishment due to start as soon possible together with a destination/celebrity chef restaurant as part of the refurb.


In Marlows Cellar Bar there is a Medieval well which was discovered some years ago, it is visible and glass covered, the levels of water rise and fall depending on the water levels in the City. The bar can be hired exclusively for events of up to 100 people, ideal for drinks receptions, bowl food and canapés, or a party.

Woburn House, situated in central London less than 5 minutes’ walk to Euston station has recently undergone a £2m refurbishment. Woburn House has 8 events spaces which have all been restyled and fitted with up to date AV systems. The venue has extended its opening hours and can now be hired exclusively for evenings and weekends, along with the introduction of a new catering company. The refurb has extended its capacity to 500 delegates across the event space and is now offering new DDR rates. The venue boasts a well-lit foyer space which could be used for breakout space or drinks receptions, and the Main hall now features professional stage lighting, and colour changing lighting which could be used to fit with brand colours.
