The Rubens at The Palace hotel, a member of Red Carnation Hotels, is due to add the finishing touches to a hotel-wide renovation.
Overlooking the Royal Mews of Buckingham Palace in London, the property has undergone a multi-million-pound refurbishment, and now features two new restaurants, a bar, an English afternoon tea service, plus new guest rooms and suites. All of the 163 rooms, suites and serviced apartments have been refurbished, with more than 80 new marble bathrooms installed, alongside 163 chandeliers.
In May, the final element to the refurbishment, a new incarnation of the Leopard Bar, will open to guests and visitors, serving more than 200 whiskies, 20 Champagnes and over 50 Champagne cocktails.
De Vere Selsdon Estate reveals results of £5m refurbishment
The De Vere Selsdon Estate in Croydon have revealed the results of its £5m refurbishment.
The estate, part of Principal Hotel Company’s De Vere portfolio of country estate hotels and event spaces, have a new restaurant, 1042, which looks out onto the 18-hole championship golf course which surrounds the property., Burr & Co coffee shop, orangery and reception area, as well as the full refurbishment of the 54 bedrooms and six meeting rooms.
The Victorian mansion house has been renovated to bring it in line with the new De Vere brand standards. The renovation also includes the creation of a new presidential suite and a further 96 bedrooms will be refurbished in the next phase of works.

The CCT Venues-Docklands is a central London venue equipped with a large exhibition space, a private lounge, eight meeting rooms, six smaller rooms and a waterfront terrace and restaurant.
The summer launch comes after an extensive refurbishment at 193 Marsh Wall, next to South Quay station and the Canary Wharf business district. Its exhibition space has capacity for 250 guests and a private lounge.
The eight meeting rooms at the venue have large windows, stylish furniture and digital door signage, the smaller rooms can be used for syndicates, breakouts or interviews and the private waterfront terrace can be used for small receptions.
Hotel du Vin is soon to open the doors of its 19th hotel located in the historic centre of Stratford-upon-Avon, on 1 May 2018. The new hotel is spread across two converted Grade II-listed townhouses, and features 46 bedrooms and suites.
The hotel also includes its own bistro focused on home-style French cooking accompanied with its own courtyard allowing guests to dine outside, an event space to accommodate up to 70 people suitable for meetings, weddings and celebrations, along with two smaller private dining rooms for 10-12 guests.

The Queen Elizabeth 2 (QE2) has relaunched as a floating hotel, restaurant and exhibition in Dubai this week.
The cruise liner made her maiden transatlantic voyage in 1969 from Southampton to New York. The ship was retired in 2008 following 1,400 voyages and is now docked permanently at Mina Rashid in Dubai.
QE2 opened yesterday, 18 April 2018, and will be opened in stages, the first of which will be the 13 restored rooms and suites, five of the planned 13 restaurants and bars, and the adjacent QE2 Heritage Exhibition.
Accommodation on the 13-deck liner has been restored, maintaining design features but has also modernised. Several of the original restaurants have also retained the same names and décor. The liner will have 13 bars and restaurants in total: the Chart Room, a historical lounge and bar; the Golden Lion, a traditional English pub; the Pavilion, a family restaurant with a terrace overlooking the marina; Lido, the hotel’s all-day-dining restaurant; the Grand Lounge; and the Yacht Club offering afternoon tea. The hotel’s signature restaurant is the Queen’s Grill, offering British fine-dining dishes and a tasting menu recreating classic dishes from 1969.
Adjacent to the hotel lobby is the QE2 Exhibition detailing the liner’s 39-year history. The QE2 will be fully opened in October 2018.

Hotel Excelsior Venice Lido Resort Reopens on 12th April 2018
A gem of belle époque Venetian decor, the Hotel Excelsior Venice Lido Resort is set to reopen its famous doors, having embarked on a three-year restoration plan to ensure it remains world-class.
In December 2016 the London & Regional Properties Group, an international hotel investment specialist with a portfolio of around 12,000 hotel rooms, took over the running of the hotel.
The company has been implementing a re-financing plan in partnership with Coima SGR, a leading independent manager of real estate investment funds on behalf of Italian and international corporate investors.
The main goal of the operation was to give a new lease of life to an icon of Venetian hospitality, through a three-year relaunch plan which provides for the total renovation of the hotel by 2020, while respecting its tradition and historic vocation.
The first step in this plan will be seen from April 12th, the official date on which the hotel is to re-open following major renovation work on its majestic Venetian-Byzantine style façade and its historic cupola, which has been restored to its former glory following a fire in 2014.
What’s more, guests at the Lido will be greeted by new, sophisticated and modern finishes; and the beachfront restaurant La Taverna will kick off the bathing season in June 2018 with an all-new design and menu, with dishes that reflect the best of traditional Italian cuisine.
The subsequent phases of the masterplan will be implemented in the next two years and are to include a restyling of the luxurious bedrooms and public areas, as well as a new food and beverage strategy.
The Hotel Excelsior Venice Lido Resort will be steered in this new direction by a renewed management team, with figures recruited from prestigious luxury firms.
The general manager, Alessio Lazazzera, joined the Venice Lido in June 2017, having previously managed hotels in the St. Regis and Luxury Collection brands, with 12 years spent overseeing the re-launch of the Hotel Quisisana in Capri.
L’Oscar Hotel London will open on 23 May and will be the first of a number of properties under the brand name. The hotel has 39 bedrooms and is being developed in a Grade II-listed Baptist church in Holborn. The Baptist Grill in the former chapel and Café L’Oscar, will open next month, while the bedrooms will launch on 11 June.
The property will become the brand’s flagship of a collection of 10 L’Oscar hotels set to open over the next 10 years.
Plans for a 14-storey Hotel La Tour in Milton Keynes have been approved by Milton Keynes Council.
The site near the city’s Marlborough Gate junction is currently used as a coach car park but is set to be transformed into a 251-bedroom luxury hotel with conference and leisure facilities, a rooftop restaurant and bar as well as a top floor viewing area and art exhibitions, which will be named ‘SeeMK’.
