MARCO PIERRE WHITE LAUNCHES NEW RESTAURANT CONCEPT IN BIRMINGHAM
Marco Pierre White’s first ‘English Chophouse’ opens at the Hotel La Tour in November.

Recognising Birmingham’s appetite for affordable glamour Mr White’s English Chophouse brings the traditional concept of a British chophouse to contemporary diners. The celebrity chef, who’s been closely involved with developing the restaurant in the city centre’s east side, says: “Chophouses were created in London in the 18th century and became fashionable in the 1960s. Our past is our foundation, let’s not forget that.

Last week I had the pleasure of attending IBTM 2015 in Barcelona as a hosted buyer, together with my colleagues Paula, Amy and Tracy. Attending my first major event it was great to engage with the many nations and venues in the industry all willing to share their experiences and knowledge.
This was an exhibition on a huge scale. A full schedule of meetings and destination presentations to attend, each with valuable information to give, for myself and my client, including company/hotel updates and visions for the upcoming year. Also I got the chance to meet up with some unscheduled appointments when I had a bit of time to spare.
Being hosted by Marriott I also had the chance to have extra one on one time with some of our preferred partners properties in mainland Europe, which again benefited myself and my client’s needs going forwards.
As the evening approached I was invited to a drinks reception provided by my hosted buyer in which I also got to network with other hosted buyers from around the world.
All in all this was a great experience in all aspects with great contacts made, industry updates and saying hello to some old faces.

Another destination that never fails to impress is Bangkok, where we have recently opened our first hotel in the city. Situated in the city’s upscale business district, the five star Mövenpick Hotel Sukhumvit 15 Bangkok’s 297 bedrooms and 330 sq m of event space are designed around a central 2 storey waterfall and local Lelawadee tree. The hotel’s showpiece is the rooftop pool and terrace, which can be used for receptions and events.
Elsewhere in Thailand the Mövenpick Resort & Spa Karon Beach in Phuket is capable of welcoming up to 800 guests in its Grand Ballroom, and its easy connections to Bangkok transform this exotic destination into a great MICE destination.
Sticking with the theme of sun, sand and seminars, we’ll soon be opening in exotic Bali as well as Kuala Lumpur and Colombo… so stay tuned!

Over 600m2 dedicated to art and industrial design, open to the public and available for companies, for products presentations, show room, events, fashion shows.
This is the description of Art Design Box, a scenographic and very recent area integrated in the Fouri Expo Rho 2015, just outside Milan and close to the Train Station, and the underground. In this original location the public will discover a lounge area, a relax area which is also stimulating at the same time; next to it is also a slow food restaurant and Box Studio, a theatre for cinematographic and advertising production. The space, which is multifunctional and innovative, offers meeting planners a wide choice of services, such as technological and multimedia equipment of latest generation, a professional kitchen integrated in the furnishing for show cooking and video shooting, an events space dedicated to the culture of food but not only.
Naturally, the staff at Art Design Box accompanies organisers and companies in the creation of every event, producing a rich menu of activities made-to-measure, such as social engagement, sponsorship, catering slow food.
Located in Sesto San Giovanni, the Spazio Mill is a cultural space open to external events; it is addressed, in fact, to companies and cultural operators as a location for conferences, exhibitions, workshops, shows and product sales, corporate dinners and lunches, conventions and events.
The building in itself is very appealing: it includes the Archivio Giovanni Sacchi, a tower and a restaurant. Apart from the strong impact of the location – a container in which design, art, theatre and music co-exist – the resident staff are available for meeting planners with a vast range of high quality services, which go from catering to communication up to the set-up and the provision of technological equipment.
In addition the theatrical companies and actors that work with the Spazio Mil are available to entertain during events, conventions, private parties.

Last week Team Spirit organised a drumming session for everyone at Trinity. We were at Wyboston Lakes for our annual conference and this activity took place outside in the afternoon. It was great to get some fresh air after being in a conference room all day.
In one hour Team Spirit managed to transform us into a Samba Band using drums and percussion instruments. Firstly we practiced keeping time then were divided into smaller sections taking drums or instruments. Each section of the band had a different rhythm which came together in a lively samba performance. Not only was it great fun, but it made us realise that each part is important and we achieved success when everyone was in time with everyone else and working together.
